@markconroy @Netlify @gatsbyjs @trello Hooray!

@jaffathecake WHAT?!

@markconroy @Netlify @gatsbyjs @trello Oi, gimme back my 🍻!
Fun! You could pull @trello content into any SSG thanks to its API 👉 https://developer.atlassian.com/cloud/trello/rest/
And @gatsbyjs already has a plug-in to help 👉 https://www.gatsbyjs.org/packages/gatsby-source-trello/
Could use columns for stage/live using @Netlify Deploy Contexts 👉 https://docs.netlify.com/site-deploys/overview/?utm_source=twitter&utm_medium=support-pnh&utm_campaign=devex#deploy-contexts

@TinaHolmboe @LeonieWatson Same! 🤩

@_chloetucker Hooray! Have fun digging in.

@LeonieWatson I agree. It’s not that serving a site as a collection of static assets is new. But the tools and services available now make this approach more practical and powerful than before.
(Although tinkering in xemacs on a Solaris workstation will always be a fond memory for me!)

@toddmorey Good point. I was SO close.

@rb30 @TinaHolmboe @LeonieWatson Oh, but I’m describing a tool used to make web sites. Not sites themselves.
- 90s I made them by hand with emacs.
- 00s I used asp, php or java to power them.
- 10s I used ruby or python to power them.
Now I like to pre-build them with an SSG so they’re ready-to-serve as files.

@TinaHolmboe @LeonieWatson What did we call these in the 90s?

@PavelASamsonov @hankchizljaw ...if it ain't broke

@hankchizljaw Oh thanks!
I shamelessly stole assets some talented @netlify-ers made for this page 👉 https://www.netlify.com/jamstack/?utm_source=twitter&utm_medium=ssp_pnh&utm_campaign=devex
...and repurposed them for my own needs. Cheeky.

What is a static site generator? https://twitter.com/Netlify/status/1250320459498831882

@toddmorey #EnthusiasmAsAService

@creativityhurts Ha! I wonder how many jobs I’ve had where my colleagues thought I was being snarky!
I wasn’t being snarky. I just like to give each guffaw the emphasis and breathing room it deserves.

@zachleat The guy on the pushbike looked unamused.

@zachleat Daily.

RT @remotesynth: Some valuable advice from @philhawksworth on choosing a static site generator. He explores different considerations than I…

@shortdiv @remotesynth 100% this for me too!
Especially since so many social circles are compensating by also gathering online. It's wonderful in many ways, but I'm wrestling with blurred lines and video conf fatigue.

@zmarkan I'm a serial offender.
