The archive of what I posted on Twitter, which I now self host due to a lack of trust in Twitter and some other reasons.

I'll soon begin refelcting all my Mastodon posts here too. I'm happier self-hosting or maintaining an archive of my content on URLs that I can own.

There are tools to help you do this too. Such as this one from the makers of Eleventy.

@markconroy @Netlify @gatsbyjs @trello Oi, gimme back my 🍻!

Fun! You could pull @trello content into any SSG thanks to its API 👉 https://developer.atlassian.com/cloud/trello/rest/

And @gatsbyjs already has a plug-in to help 👉 https://www.gatsbyjs.org/packages/gatsby-source-trello/

Could use columns for stage/live using @Netlify Deploy Contexts 👉 https://docs.netlify.com/site-deploys/overview/?utm_source=twitter&utm_medium=support-pnh&utm_campaign=devex#deploy-contexts

@LeonieWatson I agree. It’s not that serving a site as a collection of static assets is new. But the tools and services available now make this approach more practical and powerful than before.

(Although tinkering in xemacs on a Solaris workstation will always be a fond memory for me!)

@rb30 @TinaHolmboe @LeonieWatson Oh, but I’m describing a tool used to make web sites. Not sites themselves.

- 90s I made them by hand with emacs.
- 00s I used asp, php or java to power them.
- 10s I used ruby or python to power them.

Now I like to pre-build them with an SSG so they’re ready-to-serve as files.

I shamelessly stole assets some talented @netlify-ers made for this page 👉 https://www.netlify.com/jamstack/?utm_source=twitter&utm_medium=ssp_pnh&utm_campaign=devex

...and repurposed them for my own needs. Cheeky.

I wasn’t being snarky. I just like to give each guffaw the emphasis and breathing room it deserves.

Especially since so many social circles are compensating by also gathering online. It's wonderful in many ways, but I'm wrestling with blurred lines and video conf fatigue.
